Starting from nothing
Most records here open with a brief. This one opens with a reference pin and a question, and the customer thinking out loud:
"Here's the pin I was referring to. I have 10 players so I was thinking more 100-150 pins so that would give them each 10-15 pins each to trade. I would think the year yes, but what else do people put on them?"
That is the whole problem of a first pin order, stated plainly. How many? And what goes on it?
The quantity, worked out properly
Ten players. Ten to fifteen pins each to trade. 100–150 pins.
That arithmetic is the right way to do it — start from the roster and the number of trades, not from a round number or a budget. It was also, as it turns out, slightly light. The order went in at 110, and the year after this club came back for three teams.
Why the event mattered
"we are in the Youth Baseball Nationals Myrtle Beach in June and they are a pin trading tournament"
A pin-trading tournament — not just a tournament that permits trading. That changes the answer to "how many." At an event where trading is the activity between games, pins move fast and a team that brought exactly enough runs out.
What goes on a pin
The year, yes. Beyond that: the team name, the event, and the place. This design carried the tournament name and year explicitly, which the customer asked to update as the plan firmed up:
"Can we change the tournament name and year to Youth Baseball Nationals Myrtle Beach 2024 please?"
That combination — team, event, year, place — is what makes a pin a record of a specific week rather than generic merchandise. It is also what makes it worth trading: the other team wants your pin because it says somewhere they weren't.
The size compromise
The text had to be reworked to sit legibly at two inches. Everything you want on a pin competes with everything else for the same small face, and two inches is where most of these settle.
What it cost
$2.35 a pin at 200, $1.90 at 300, plus ten cents for a glitter colour — with the mould fee waived on a single-team order.

The banner threshold
This order sat under the threshold, so no banner was included. At the time the line fell at 1,000 pins at 2.0 inches or larger: the size step cost $0.20 more per pin — $1.07 to $1.27 — and brought a free 3ft × 6ft banner plus 100 bonus gold-metal or blackout pins with it.
Worth checking before you commit to a quantity: the bigger pin is frequently the cheaper total order.

Questions this order answers
Glitter is a finish, so it applies to any pin type — standard, spinner or slider alike. It is mixed into the enamel of a chosen colour rather than applied on top, so it will not rub off.
It is specified per colour: one glitter colour, or several. Commonly it lands on a single accent area — the shape of a state, a star, a puck. A 1,500-pin association order ran one glitter colour across the whole run; another design used gold glitter only on the state-shaped element.

Say so up front. Artwork is kept on file, so a repeat order can start from your existing design instead of a blank page, and a reorder that reuses the same die skips the mould charge.

No. Every figure in this library is what one team was quoted for one order, on the day they asked. It is published as a record, not as a price list.
Quantity and size move it most: the break runs about $0.20 per pin for every hundred pins, and the range here goes from a 1,500-pin corporate run at 1.25 inch to a 3 inch dangler with glitter. Pin type and finish are priced per pin on top of that — a spinner was $0.65 more per pin on one order, glitter is $0.10 per pin per glitter colour.
Timing is separate again. Six weeks ahead of your date carries no delivery or rush charge; four weeks adds a $40 delivery charge; three weeks adds $40 plus a $75 rush fee. The pins are manufactured in China and are subject to US import tariffs, disclosed on the quote rather than at invoice.
