The question everyone asks
What size should a trading pin be?
It gets asked on nearly every first order, and most answers dodge it by quoting a price list and letting the buyer work it out. Here it was answered directly:
"Most team trading pins want 1.75" inch - 2.0" inch size."
That is the convention. Not a rule, and plenty of good pins sit outside it — this library has a thousand one-inch pins at seventy-nine cents and a sixty-piece run at three inches — but if you are ordering trading pins and have no particular reason to go elsewhere, that is the range.
Why that range
Below it, the pin struggles to carry what a trading pin needs: a team name, a logo, a year, often an event and sometimes jersey numbers. At 1.5 inch something has to go.
Above it, cost climbs quickly and the pin starts to feel like a display piece rather than something you hand over across a table twenty times in a week.
1.75 to 2 inch is where a legible design and a sane per-pin price overlap.

The same logic as every multi-design order in this library: two moulds, because a mould is per design and nothing changes that, but one shipment, one freight charge, one invoice, and the combined volume counting toward one rate rather than being split across two orders.

The banner threshold

Two inches or larger is the working floor for tournament trading — smaller pins get passed over. Sizes run from 2 inches up to 6.
One little league's four orders across three years show the migration in practice: they started at 1.25 inches and moved to 2.0. Larger sizes also unlock the banner threshold, which is why the bigger pin often costs less in total.

Quantity and size move it most: the break runs about $0.20 per pin for every hundred pins, and the range here goes from a 1,500-pin corporate run at 1.25 inch to a 3 inch dangler with glitter. Pin type and finish are priced per pin on top of that — a spinner was $0.65 more per pin on one order, glitter is $0.10 per pin per glitter colour.
Timing is separate again. Six weeks ahead of your date carries no delivery or rush charge; four weeks adds a $40 delivery charge; three weeks adds $40 plus a $75 rush fee. The pins are manufactured in China and are subject to US import tariffs, disclosed on the quote rather than at invoice.
