A repeat order, stated simply
"I believe we ordered 550 pieces last year. I would like to order the same quantity."
The Gloucester County Hero Scholarship Fund runs the Ride to Remember, a charity motorcycle ride in New Jersey. 2026 was its twenty-fifth year.
Coming back and asking for the same number is its own kind of review.
The design question was proportion
Most anniversary briefs ask for the number to be bigger. This one asked for the opposite:
"recognized, but not so dominant that it overwhelms the Ride to Remember identity. A banner, badge, or integrated emblem could work well, as long as the anniversary element…"
Twenty-five years is worth marking. But the thing people wear the pin for is the ride and what it funds — not the milestone. Put 25 at the centre and you have made a pin about an anniversary. Work it in as a badge or a ribbon and you have made a pin about the Ride to Remember that happens to be from its twenty-fifth year.
The second one still means something in 2027.
What it is
550 pins, two inch, die struck iron with soft enamel fill, nickel plated. One design, no glitter, no spinner, no novelty finish.
That restraint is right for the piece. A commemorative pin for a scholarship fund is not competing for attention on a trading table — it is going on a vest or a jacket and staying there.
The pace
First conversation in late January, artwork approved 9 February, ordered 10 February, delivery set for 20 March — comfortably ahead of riding season.
Why this one is here
It is the clearest non-sports record in the library. Custom pins are assumed to mean youth baseball and Cooperstown; this is a charity ride, a scholarship fund, and a design brief about knowing what not to put on a two-inch surface.

The banner threshold
This order sat under the threshold, so no banner was included. At the time the line fell at 1,000 pins at 2.0 inches or larger: the size step cost $0.20 more per pin — $1.07 to $1.27 — and brought a free 3ft × 6ft banner plus 100 bonus gold-metal or blackout pins with it.
Worth checking before you commit to a quantity: the bigger pin is frequently the cheaper total order.

Quantity and size move it most: the break runs about $0.20 per pin for every hundred pins, and the range here goes from a 1,500-pin corporate run at 1.25 inch to a 3 inch dangler with glitter. Pin type and finish are priced per pin on top of that — a spinner was $0.65 more per pin on one order, glitter is $0.10 per pin per glitter colour.
Timing is separate again. Six weeks ahead of your date carries no delivery or rush charge; four weeks adds a $40 delivery charge; three weeks adds $40 plus a $75 rush fee. The pins are manufactured in China and are subject to US import tariffs, disclosed on the quote rather than at invoice.
